Jim Jeffries Jim Jeffries was a big man by early 20th century standards, 6'3" and 210lbs. He could absorb huge amounts of punishment over a long fight an still come up with a KO punch. Jim Corbett boxed him to a standstill over 23 rounds before being KO'd with a single shot. Jeffries beat everyone put in his path until he made his ill-advised comeback against Jack Johnson. The question is could Jeffries have beaten many of the subsequent heavyweight champions. If they fought under the rules of his era then Jeff would probably beat all but Ali, Holmes, Louis and Johnson. Under modern rules with fights restricted to 15 or 12 rounds Jeffries would have lost to Corbett in their first fight so any of the competent boxers who have held the title would have a chance of beating him on points. The really entertaining contests would be Jeff against Foreman, Frazier, Dempsey, Marciano, Tyson and Louis. These would be pick-em fights with the winner being the man who gets up most frequently.
